Wurundjeri Country
TarraWarra Museum of Art acknowledges the Wurundjeri people as the original custodians of the lands and waters on which the Museum stands. We recognise their continuous connection to Country and totems and we honour Elders past, present and emerging.
Yarra Valley
TarraWarra Museum of Art is located in the picturesque Yarra Valley in Victoria, Australia.
The Yarra Valley is regarded as one of the world’s premier wine-growing regions, with breathtaking scenery, award-winning wineries, breweries, distilleries and restaurants, luxury accommodation and a myriad of galleries and cultural venues. Plan the rest of your Yarra Valley adventure at visityarravalley.com.au.
Architecture
Designed by acclaimed Australian architect Allan Powell and built by Probuild Constructions, TarraWarra Museum of Art sits at the apex of a hill, arcing gently from the earth in concert with the contours and hues of the surrounding landscape.
In 2004, Allan Powell was awarded the 2004 Victorian Premier’s Design Award for his design, with its sweeping, rammed-earth façade and voluminous spaces. The floor-to-ceiling picture windows in the northern galleries elegantly frame the Yarra Valley landscape beyond, inviting visitors to ‘see’ the landscape in a different way.
